Wylie Phillips
Response to GVS Questionnaire
Why do you want to run for the study commission?
My goal is to help ensure our government is efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of all residents. I am passionate about engaging citizens in decision-making and ensuring their voices are heard. Running for this position offers the opportunity to support meaningful civic involvement and work collaboratively to shape a government that serves everyone.
What skills and experience do you have that you think will help you in your role as a study commissioner?
I have a background in data analysis through my degree in economics and my career in economic development. Using data to inform decision-making is essential, and this approach will be valuable when assessing our current government structure. My experience in analyzing complex systems and identifying areas for improvement will help ensure that we base our recommendations on solid evidence and insights.
Have you ever served in local government, either as an elected official or volunteered on an advisory board? If so, when and in what capacity?
I currently serve on the Gallatin County Future Land Use Map (FLUM) and Housing Strategy steering committee.
What would you hope to achieve if elected to serve as a study commissioner?
As I briefly touched on before, my primary goal is to improve our local government's efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness. More specifically, I aim to assess where our current government structure may be falling short and identify opportunities to streamline operations, enhancing service to the community. Ultimately, I hope to recommend changes that not only improve day-to-day operations but also create a framework for long-term success, allowing our government to adapt and respond to the evolving needs of all residents.
