Response to GVS Questionnaire

Why do you want to run for the study commission?

I decided to be a candidate to bring a unique perspective to this study commission. I currently work for Gallatin County as a Tax Clerk. This position has allowed me to speak with many of our residents and I believe that this will be a benefit to the study. In addition, I work with many of the Gallatin County offices within the courthouse and can bring that experience to the table as we talk about our current government structure and what may or may not be working well.

What skills and experience do you have that you think will help you in your role as a study commissioner?

I believe that this study commission should be made up of a variety of Gallatin County residents that can each bring different strengths and perspectives as we study our current government structures. I believe that my connections to the younger families, my ability to work as a team, and my insight into our current structure make me a perfect candidate for this study. I am a firm believer in making sure we look at all options available to us and that we are being fiscally responsible with the taxpayers' dollars.

Have you ever served in local government, either as an elected official or volunteered on an advisory board? If so, when and in what capacity?

I have not served as an elected official but have served as the Vice-President for two years, President for two years and Treasurer for two years of the Parent Advisory Council for Meadowlark Elementary School. In my role as President I led monthly meetings, wrote newsletters, communicated with district leaders, and attended monthly district meetings. In my role as Treasurer, I was responsible for presenting monthly treasurer reports, monthly balancing, and annual tax filings.

What would you hope to achieve if elected to serve as a study commissioner?

If elected to this study commission, I would hope to bring my experience as a good communicator, team player, and my current working knowledge of how our current structure is running to this commission. I would hope for us to achieve a completed and thorough review of our current and potential structure, that will lead to the most efficient and effective structure for our County.
